The new Embassy Suites Houston Downtown opened halfway through the year 2010. It is located adjacent to the Hilton Americas hotel and the George R. Brown Convention Center, overlooking Houston's new Discovery Green Park, a 13-acre downtown oasis for recreation and entertainment. The hotel features 262 luxury suites and serves Houston's booming corporate and convention business during the middle of the week, while attracting families and leisure business on the weekends who come to Houston Astros (baseball) or Houston Rockets (basketball) games. Each venue is only three blocks away from this new Embassy Suites.
As a graduate of the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel/Restaurant Management at the University of Houston in 1973, Nick was assigned to a position as Food & Beverage Director at an American Liberty-owned Sheraton Hotel in Dallas, TX. He later served as General Manager of several company properties, before becoming its first President in 1983. Nick and his wife Vicki purchased stock in American Liberty in 1991, and since then has served as Chief Executive Officer. Currently, American Liberty owns and/or operates 12 hotels, inns and resorts located throughout Texas and Louisiana.
Nick has held the positions of Chairman and President of the Houston Hotel and Motel Association and has served on the Executive committee of the Texas Hotel & Motel Association. He is presently Chairman of the Dean's Industry Advisory Council of the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel/Restaurant Management at the University of Houston and has served as its Alumni Association president. He's been awarded the Founding Dean's Award, and is the current Chairman of the Eric Hilton Distinguished Lecturer's Club. In 2004, he established the Massad Family Scholarship Endowment at the College.
