Job Title: Director of Accounting
Will manage accounting for multiple hotel properties on all Hotel Accounting matters including Financial Statement preparation and closing, A/P, General Ledger, A/R, Payroll, Hotel taxes, bank reconciliations, and any other accounting functions as the organization requires.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the end users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Manage the accounting team’s activities to achieve the organization’s monthly accounting goals in a timely manner
Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures
Ensure that all statutory accounting requirements of the organization are met
Prepare supporting information for all audits and liaise with external auditors as necessary
Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions
Develop and maintain financial accounting systems and controls for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and petty cash
Ensure or monitor reconciliation of bank and investment accounts
Review monthly Financial Statements for accuracy and monitor monthly variance reporting
Monitor property level cash flows and prepare cash flow forecasts in accordance with ALH policy
Oversee the bookkeeping function including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure and stored in compliance with current legislation
Assist the CFO and the VP of Operations with required financial reporting
Oversees and supervises all Operational Accounting staff at the corporate office
Supervise, monitor, and develop account staff by providing supervision and professional development.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Accounting, or Business Management/Administration; 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting or finance responsibility
Multi-unit Hospitality accounting experience a MUST
Knowledge of the APTECH hotel accounting system a PLUS
Ability to effectively communicate in all scenarios with subordinates, other managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Hospitality level accounting software. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products.
